Indications

Supportive treatment of acute infectious diarrhoea, antibiotic-associated diarrhoea, and restoration of intestinal flora after gastrointestinal upset.

Dosage & Administration

Adults: one capsule once or twice daily. Children over three years: one capsule daily, or as directed by a registered physician. Do not take with hot drinks.

Doses must always be confirmed by a registered physician for the individual patient.

Chemical Structure

Probonix contains lyophilised live Saccharomyces boulardii, a non-pathogenic yeast probiotic that survives gastric transit and is not affected by antibacterial therapy.

Side Effects

Well tolerated. Mild flatulence or thirst may occur. Avoid in patients with central venous catheters or severe immunosuppression.
